Link ECU has been backing the Shanahan brothers, Jack and Conor, since they were schoolboys, and we have been there with unconditional support every step of the way, to help them master their craft and deliver many podiums and championships.

Another DMEC podium for the brothers, this time with Piotr Więcek, another LinkECU Ambassador.

When we first met Jack and Conor, they were up-and-coming drivers who were not even old enough to drive on the roads of Ireland. What they did have was a great attitude, tons of potential, and a set of values that matched our own.

We saw they needed a long-term partner who would deliver much more than a standard sponsorship. We met with the family and formed a partnership that has helped them through many ups and downs to the very top of their sport. That was seven years ago, before any of the BDC, IDC or DMEC titles. Since then the Shanahans and Link ECU have enjoyed great success together, both of us growing to be the best in our respective fields.

Link has gone above and beyond to make the Shanahans part of the family. Our partnership has extended well outside of the drift arenas of the UK and Europe, and part of this was helping bring both Jack and Conor down under to compete in the International Drifting Cup in Sydney in 2018. Jack then travelled onwards to spend time with the Link team in our New Zealand HQ – a very special occasion for all of us.

“As a driver we can sometimes forget what goes in to making some of the equipment used in our cars, but thanks to Link I now have a new appreciation for the time and effort that goes making every individual ECU. Thanks Link, it’s been an awesome experience.”

The younger Shanahans with Andy Millard, Link's CEO, in 2017

When Link were first introduced to The Shanahans, Jack was driving a 2JZ powered S14 running a Link G4+ Fury ECU, while younger brother Conor was driving Jack’s old 600hp 180SX powered by a 2JZ also running a Link G4+ Fury ECU. Fast forward to now and both boys have transitioned to high end 2JZ powered GT86s, which Link is proud to have been able to support, even purchasing the first GT86 chassis for Jack in 2017.

The results speak for themselves, with Link’s product innovation, extreme reliability and tech support helping both Jack and Conor master their craft and reach the absolute pinnacles of drift.

The brothers win big in the 2017 Irish Drift Championship.

“These tracks are super demanding, luckily we work with the best people in the game, Link ECU, which gives us the option to log the cars, which makes my mechanics life easy… Very grateful to be working with this company, for a long time now their support has been very much appreciated.”

    Bring on 2024

What’s next for the Shanahan brothers is up to them. At Link, we know the evidence is in and the case is firmly closed on who delivers the highest quality engine management and support package to produce champions.

    Stay classy Jack and Conor!

    The final word

“The Link range is like none other, you can just get anything for anything basically and we have not had one issue since we put the ECU’s into our cars and anything that was supplied to us by Link.” — Jack Shanahan

“We’re super glad that LinkECU came onboard with us, so we can run their amazing products all over our cars, not just the ECU, but we also use their dash and also use all their sensors and stuff, so it’s a perfect package to plug-in and develop our cars, as we are kinda running quite extreme cars, for a whole weekend of hard driving, so LinkECU makes sure they are running perfect all weekend.” — Conor Shanahan
