Big Boys Toys 2017

With the release of the new New Zealand Xtreme Motorsport series coming in 2018, big things are on the horizon for the New Zealand drifting championship – D1NZ. The new series will showcase supermoto, rallycross and UTV, all alongside drifting as the feature event.

LinkECU was pleased to be a part of the NZ-X set up at Big Boys Toys 2017. This is the biggest exhibition of its kind in New Zealand, with over 30,000 visitors last year. The event saw the unveiling of many new cars for the 2018 season. These included Fanga Dan’s new Mustang, Jase Brown’s Frankenstein, and the stunning S14 with a V12 engine to be piloted by Jaron Olivecrona.

The drivers & cars are certainly improving year by year; we can’t wait to see what this championship has in store for 2018.

Jase Brown’s 07 Frankenstein car was on display at the Luxxio stand as he announced his step up to the Pro Class for 2018. This supercharged S Chassis 1UZ-FE is one MEAN machine, and we can’t wait to hear this engine roar as it gets sideways this summer.

Jaren Olivecrona’s new build is nothing short of epic. Done by Hartley Motorsport in Palmerton North, this V12 in an S14 chassis is going to have a ton of torque and more useable power for Jaren in the pro class.

The RB powered R32 of Jase Coombes certainly looks the part.

D1NZ’s own car was looking fresh. It will be interesting to see who they have drive this during the season…

John O’Gorman’s RB30DET powered S15 Silvia which will be competing in the D1NZ Pro Sport Drift Competition was beside the Link ECU stand for the weekend.

Tay James was also on hand with tons of giveaways for the fans. He is a talent to keep an eye on in the near future as part of the Central Drift Team.

Rubbing’s racing, right? Darren Kelly’s car arrived back from WTAC just one day before Big Boys Toys.

We look forward to seeing all these cars in action, and many more, the track this summer. See you there! https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2018/nz-xtreme-motorsport-series-with-d1nz-r1/upper-hutt
