Build of the week #19 – EVO7 650hp Time Attack Car

This week we take a closer look at this 2002 EVO 7 Time Attack Build based in the UK and tuned by RG Motorsport.

The impressive car regularly competes on the British race tracks such as Donington Park, putting 650 horsepower to good use!

Owner Dean Taylor started the project with just a bare shell. It's is now a complete street and track weapon, with heavy engine work completed.

"It’s a 2.2L with a ported head, plus GSC R2 cams, retainers and lifters" Dean says.

A GT3582r HTA turbo kit, iD 1300 injectors, a MW pro 12 ignition system and AMS inlet manifold also feature.

The upgraded engine is controlled by a Link G4+ PlugIn ECU, along with a wide variety of accessories including a Link CAN Lambda module.

Features enabled by the Link ECU include multiple boost settings, launch control, anti lag, and safety strategies for AFR and oil pressure. An AiM dash in the cockpit relays information to Dean while he is putting the car through its paces.

Richard Gasson at RG motorsport tuned the engine. Dean adds: "It makes 650hp in high boost at the moment. It was higher, but restrictions to get into my class lowered the power output".

The set up also features an IRP H pattern shifter, plus a dry sump RS gearbox, Rs diff Roll cage, Front and rear Alcon and many more add ons!

With Time Attack Round 6 Donnington coming up soon, Dean is itching to get the car back on track.

We don't blame him; best of luck for the events ahead, mate!
