No Limits Jetsprint

LS Jet Sprint Racing

Competing in the Australia Super Boat Series in the LS class, Matt Hareb’s LS3 jet sprint is an immaculate build. The LS3 engine has essentially a stock bottom end (as there are very tight restrictions on what is allowed to be modified in this category of racing) meaning a fine tune is essential to maximise potential.

Before the G5 Voodoo Pro was launched, the car was fitted with a G4X Xtreme ECU. The loom was built to also suit the G5 Voodoo Pro, so it was switched it over before the first event in 2023.

Ross Honnor from TopTune NZ travels with the team or remote tunes when he can't make it to an event, to ensure the best engine performance at all times.

“The extra features of the G5 Voodoo Pro are amazing” says Ross. “The GPS speed and mapping along with G-force readings allowed me to fine tune the jet unit and engine very quickly.”

“The closed loop lambda controls the fuel mixture of the left and right bank separately, plus individual cylinder trims utilising an eight channel can EGT box has allowed us to fully on top of our game. “

The team also opted for the Link CAN gauge, due to its small size and lightweight design.

EKZ Landspeed Car

Landspeed

Built for the harsh salt and speeds of over 300 mile per hour, the EKZ land speed car is nothing short of impressive. Built and raced by EKZ owner, Eddie, in the unlimited blown fuel category, this car has been created with blood, sweat, tears - and a large catalogue of Link products.

Showcasing our flagship ECU, the G5 Voodoo Pro, along with the 12 button CAN keypad, 8 Link ECU smart coils and a Razor PDM, these products are perfectly complimented by the expertise of Eddie - a wiring expert and all-round good person. Eddie started his motorsport journey many years ago, with a VL and some mates. He quickly evolved his knowledge of cars and wiring, soon cementing his part in the motorsport community.

Eddie explains his favourite features of the G5 Voodoo Pro include the ability to utilise 16 sequential injectors, the onboard 50Hz GPS, the ability to implement traction control strategies and the monster data logging capabilities.

Eddie also enjoys the intricacies of fuel mapping - using a blend table which references the base fuel table, he is able to direct what percentage of fuel is to go to each injector. This is useful for his startup, with 90% of the fuel going to the port injectors while cranking and once started and idling, all fuel is moved to go through the hat to cool the blower. Eddie also utilises a small electric fuel pump, which is controlled by the PDM, to make start up easier. Once fuel pressure is established, the electric pump turns off and the mechanical pump takes over.

Utilising the extensive features available on the G5 Voodoo Pro, Eddie is able to optimise control through an infinitely customisable tune.

With vast experience in both the good, and dangerous, aspects of salt racing, this vehicle couldn’t be placed in more capable hands.

2JZ Powered Mk 5 Supra

Drifting

Piotr Więcek is the 2021 Drift Masters Champion and the ultimate car enthusiast. For 2024, Piotr and his team Worthouse Drift have built a new 2JZ Mk 5 Toyota Supra. The car runs a G5 Voodoo Pro, plus three Link PDMs, a Link CAN keypad and all the sensors you would expect from a drift car of this caliber.

The G5 Voodoo Pro runs off not one, but two microcontrollers (computers) for more processing power, with one dedicated to running the engine and the other prioritizing communications. This helps the 2JZ engine run very smooth, in turn making it easier for Piotr to drive.

The 2JZ 3 litre 6-cylinder, dry sump engine has a fully forged bottom end and specially ported head, allowing it to rev up to 9,000 RPM. It also features Direct Port Nitrous injection. The combination of nitrous and a big turbo, helps to produce close to 1100 horsepower.

As you can imagine, engine protection controls are vital in such a machine, and the Link G5 Voodoo Pro allows for alarms and safety protocols to be set up adequately.

Inside the cockpit, a huge 10-inch Link display dash communicates this information, and more, to Piotr as he is competing.

Along with a sequential gearbox, aluminum drive-shaft and a quick-change differential, the car also features a one-off carbon kevlar body kit, making it an all-round exquisite piece of work.

The G5 Voodoo Pro features and capabilities have exceeded Piotr and team’s expectations as they push this vehicle to its limit.

K24 powered Miata

Time Attack

Tadeu Zagallo bought his beloved Mazda Miata about 5 years ago back in California as a "cheap seat time" car. He then moved to Sweden and upon arriving in Scandanavia, he found out that the Miata would only be allowed in Pro class in Swedish Time Attack competition. At that point, the car was only 130hp – not enough to be anywhere near competitive in that class. “I made the only reasonable decision and went all in.” says Tadeau. “I taught myself a bit of aerodynamics and CFD and designed a custom body kit and aero package, with full carbon fiber body, dual element rear wings and triple front wings.”

On the power front, the car now has a turbocharged Honda K24 engine making a modest 450whp, mated to a ZF 8hp70 gearbox and sending the power to the tires through a "Super 8.8" differential. The block is standard, although turbocharged with a Garrett GBC35-700 and produces 450whp/450nm of torque.

As a self-proclaimed data nerd, Tadeu chose the Link G5 Voodoo Pro ECU to make sure there was capability to run as many sensors as possible. For example, there are pressure and temperature sensors before and after every cooler, as that information allows the team to decide how much cooling is needed and therefore they can potentially reduce the size of the inlets. This minimizes drag, which is critical for a car in Time Attack competition.

Some other features of the Link ECU are not in use yet, but they will allow the team to expand scope soon, such as the dual e-throttle control.

“The GPS and accelerometer are also incredibly helpful for matching ECU parameters with what's happening on track. The WiFi is such a neat feature, too.”

The car also has Link 12 button keypad, and the installation was greatly facilitated by purchasing a pre-terminated wiring loom. It also runs a number of sensors from the Link catalogue, including but not limited O2 sensor, ethanol content sensor, multiple map sensors, temperature sensors and lots more.

MotorNord did the tuning and Rhys from LinkECU also helped with setup and track support, which made getting the car on track much easier for this Sweden based outfit.
