Rahimi bags $12000 at Summer Showdown
It was a successful weekend at the Link ECU 50K Summer Showdown in Salem, Indiana, for #TeamLinkECU driver Hooman Rahimi, as he finished in second place amongst a field of 70 drivers from across America, as well as further afield.
As always, nothing was straight forward. Due to issues with the truck transporting the drift car to the event, Hooman ended up missing all of the practice sessions on Friday. With a limited practice session of one hour available on Saturday, which included a big downpour, it meant that the odds were well and truly stacked against him.
With the track dried out, Hooman headed out for his qualifying runs. He gave it his all and somehow managed to qualify in the top 64.
As there was an open-tire rule, it meant that most of the field has a slight advantage as they were running 315mm rears, compared to Hooman’s 255mm tyres. Not disheartened, he dialled in all the grip he could, and the car was surprisingly quite fast.
In his last battle against Adam LZ, the tyre disadvantage was quite evident, but Hooman still gave everything he could.
Finishing in 2nd place, Hooman not only took home a cheque for $12,000, but also a huge smile on his face.In his last battle against Adam LZ, the tyre disadvantage was quite evident, but Hooman still gave everything he could.
Congratulations to Hooman and his team.
